Individual Climb a Mountain Day
There are some spectacular mountain days to be had in Eryri (Snowdonia), hiking with us is the best ways to see some of the less well trodden places away from the crowds. If you have always wanted to photograph the wild ponies of the Carneddau or the wild goats of the Glyderau then we can help.
Glyderau
Spend a day around the beautiful Glyderau mountains, exploring the rugged, ice shattered summits. We will start in the famous Ogwen Valley and taking in some of the best scenery in North Wales, we may visit some secret locations on route, depending on weather and what you want out of the day. We can show you some top tips on navigation, kit and fauna and flora on the way and you’ll get some cracking photos to remember your day with us. There are multiple routes over these majestic mountains and your instructor will discuss the options with you, but Tryfan, Glyder Fach, Glyder Fawr, Y Garn and Elidr Fawr are all popular destinations.
Carneddau
We are lucky to have the Carneddau as our back garden here at Pen Y Bryn Outdoor Learning and they never disappoint. There is so much choice from the busier summits of Carnedd Dafydd, Carnedd Llewelyn and Pen Yr Ole Wen to the secluded tops of Drosgl and Bera Bach, where you may only have the wild ponies for company. The landscape changes from the rugged ice scrapped Ogwen Valley side to the rolling hills of the Llanrwst side and everything in between. There are historical ruins to see along the way as ancient sheepfolds, quarries and stone circles littering the ancient landscape. Your instructor will talk you through the options before you decide the best route for your adventure.
Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)
So much has been written about Yr Wyddfa over the years that it is difficult to add anything new and there are so many options to have a grand adventure. From the classic ridges of Crib Coch and the south ridge to the ever-popular Pyg track or Llanberis Path, we can find a great day for you. There is a lot to see, from the Arthurian legends of Rhita the Giant and his famous last battle at Bwlch y Saethau to the old quarry house and workings on the miners track. We are able to offer sunrise and sunset options for that extra special day (although sadly, we can’t guarantee any views).
Welsh 3000’s
There are 14 peaks in North Wales over 1000m and doing them all in a 24hr period is a serious undertaking and should only be considered by those with good levels of fitness. We can offer you logistical support for your endeavours as well as guiding. There is also the option of taking a couple of days and staying in campsites along the way – get in touch and let us help you decide which works best for you.
